Did you know there are 35 species of mosquitoes in New Orleans? A handful of new ones blew in with hurricane Ida and decided to stay. Mosquito Control knows this because they catch and ID something like 15,000 mosquitos A WEEK! (did I get that right? Seems impossible!)
Pictured: Rockstar Dr. Jen Breaux talked to 75 @benfranklin_hs students yesterday at the #nolawildflowermeadow about what New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control does and how they innovate approaches to controlling mosquitoes so they can spray LESS.
AND… @nolamosquito is bringing back BUGFEST this year! they are looking for exhibitors - artists, plant people- and asking them to fill out this form, link in bio. It's a super fun event and I will be there in the meadow talking about urban ecology.

As seen in the #nolawildflowermeadow and rain garden 5-10-23
2100 Leon C. Simon Blvd.
The monarda donated by @npigno is popping!
The fading evening primrose is leaving a bit of a mess. Wondering if we should do a meadow mowing in June or July?
